This are sample OpenHSF files from one of our systems. The
first time you view an OpenHSF file a free viewer control will be downloaded and installed.
Depending upon the speed of your internet connection this may take a few minutes
- the file is 1.6 Mbytes which should take about 4 minutes on a 56Kbps modem or
30 seconds on an ADSL or cable modem. However, once the viewer is installed, the actual HSF files are highly compressed and are, therefore, very fast to download and view.
Click and drag with the left mouse button held down to orbit around the 3D
models. The right-click mouse menu allows you to zoom, pan and set various
options.
In the case of the hidden line render mode, better results
are achieved if the wire frame render mode is used first. Using the right-click
menu you can set the background window colour(s), add a simplified shadow and
select anti-aliasing which improves the appearance of the textures used to
represent the knurls. Shadows and anti-aliasing can, however, cause a noticeable
performance penalty. The results obtained from the print and copy to clipboard
options are not as good as those obtained directly from our system, but they are
adequate for preview prints.
Internet Explorer Security Settings needed to install the Viewer
If a dialog box suggests that your Internet Explorer security settings maybe
preventing you from using Selector, please check the following notes.
The HexaShield Selector is an ActiveX control which is automatically
installed using the component download capability of Internet Explorer. Your
Internet Explorer security settings must allow controls to be downloaded,
installed and run. Try the following steps:
- Use the Internet Explorer Tools>Internet Options>Security menu.
- If you're using one of the default levels, choose the medium level to
permit downloading and running ActiveX controls.
- If you're using customised security settings, click the 'Custom Level'
command and set the following list entries to either Prompt or Enable:
- Download signed ActiveX controls
- Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins
- Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting
- Depending on your security settings, when using the HexaShield Selector
you may be prompted with the following questions, in each case click Yes:
- Do you want to allow software such as ActiveX controls and plug-ins to
run?
- A script is accessing some software (an ActiveX control) on this page.
Do you want to allow this?
After the Selector has been downloaded and installed you should return your
Internet Explorer security settings to their previous state.
