Since its launch in 1996, Tyco Electronics has continued to invest in the development and support of its HarnWare suite of software tools covering new versions of Windows including Windows 2000, XP, Vista and now Windows 7, along with four versions of Visio, 2000, 2002, 2003 and 2007 HarnWare:We are currently working on a major upgrading of the software to the latest Microsoft Visual Studio programming language. This will, for example, enable HarnWare to run on the 64 bit versions of Microsoft Windows which are starting to become a popular choice for CAD system users. We will also be able to apply a more modern look and feel to the user interface.Microsoft Windows 7:The work we did adapting HarnWare for Microsoft Windows Vista has placed us in a good position with regard to Windows 7. So far we have not had any reported problems. The majority of our users are still using Windows XP, over the next two years we expect most HarnWare users will upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7, skipping Windows Vista which many of our users have chosen not to use.Microsoft Visio 2010:Visio 2010 has just been released. Substantial changes have been made to the Visio user interface to bring it into line with the new standards introduced with the 2007 editions of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. We are looking to introduce support for Visio 2010 later this year as part of the HarnWare software upgrade project.Training:We have continued to train many new users and to update users worldwide of earlier versions of HarnWare. We are especially pleased to note that many of our users have chosen to use the breathing space provided by the economic slowdown to update their HarnWare to the latest version V5.4.5. and create their own stencils and databases.Products:We will take advantage of the new basis provided by the HarnWare upgrade project to add a number of new products and features. This will include additional System modules, additional connectors and many others items. Further details will be posted later in the year. We welcome any comments you may have on additional product ranges you would like to see included.HarnVis:WWe will be upgrading HarnVis to the latest Microsoft Visual Studio programming language. Also we are considering whether to interface HarnVis with a general purpose 3D CAD system in order to provide users with enhanced capabilities for transferring data to and from the 3D CAD systems they use for mechanical engineering design. As we have not yet reached a decision on this, we would welcome any comments you may have on the need for such capabilities within your organisation.HarnWare V5.4.5:The current release of HarnWare is V5.4.5.
